Meet the Otter Behind Our Charity Partnership

When a driver pulled over on a North Hereford motorway to change a flat tyre, they had no idea they were about to save a life. Meet Diesel - the otter cub whose roadside rescue marks the start of TicketOtter's partnership with the UK Wild Otter Trust.

Meet the Otter Behind Our Charity Partnership

This year, TicketOtter is proud to be sponsoring the UK Wild Otter Trust (UKWOT), a charity dedicated to rescuing and rehabilitating otters across the British Isles. To kick things off, we wanted to share the story of Diesel - a cub whose rescue is exactly why this work matters.

Diesel was found on the side of a busy motorway in North Hereford, spotted by a member of the public who had pulled over to change a flat tyre. They acted quickly, contacting Woody's Wildlife Rescue, who in turn reached out to UKWOT. It's unclear what happened to Diesel's mother, but given where he was found, it's sadly possible she was struck by a vehicle.

"Otter cubs simply can't make it alone at this stage in their development. We're incredibly grateful to the quick-thinking member of the public and to Woody's Wildlife Rescue for ensuring Diesel got the urgent help he needed."
- Dave Webb, UKWOT founder

After roughly a year of care at UKWOT's dedicated rehabilitation centre in Devon, we're delighted to share that Diesel was released back into the wild in Spring 2026 - wild, free, and thriving. A portion of every TicketOtter subscription this year goes towards supporting UKWOT's vital work, helping more cubs like Diesel get the second chance they deserve.

An IT guru and IT manager for over a decade, Alex built his first website at 13 for his favourite game, and by sixth form was already selling 3D models and scripts to a global audience. That early mix of curiosity, code and commerce never really left him. When the trio needed someone to turn the idea of a fairer ticketing platform into something real, robust and scalable, Alex was the obvious choice. TicketOtter runs on the quiet confidence of someone who's been shipping things that work since he was a teenager.
