Music venues & open mic nights

Why grassroots venues switch to TicketOtter

Most ticketing platforms were built for arena tours and festivals — and they charge accordingly. We built one for the back room with the upright piano and the slightly dodgy PA.

  • Flat monthly fee, not a slice of your door — A £7 ticket should bring in £7, not £5.60 after the platform takes its cut. We charge a flat subscription — your ticket revenue is yours.
  • Money lands in your Stripe within 24 hours — Direct Stripe payouts mean cash flow that actually keeps up with a weekly residency — no waiting two weeks to pay the headliner.
  • A door list that works in a noisy room — Scan QR codes from a phone or search the guest list by name. Works offline-friendly when the venue Wi-Fi inevitably dies during soundcheck.
  • Comp tickets and guest list, sorted — Free tickets for the band's mates, the press, and the artist's plus-ones don't count against your monthly allowance — they're just tickets.

Everything a grassroots music night needs

Designed for weekly open mics, monthly residencies, album launches, and one-off touring shows.

  • Early bird, advance & door tickets — Set up multiple ticket types with their own price, quantity and on-sale window. Bump the price for walk-ups when the room's filling up.
  • Discount codes for regulars — Reward your mailing list, comp the support act's family, run two-for-one for the early slot — all from one screen, with a usage cap if you want one.
  • Door scanning that works in a dark room — Scan QR codes or search the guest list by name from any phone. Plus-ones and walk-ups handled in one screen, even when the only light is from the bar.
  • A dashboard you can read at a glance — See ticket revenue, refunds, attendance and check-in rate per gig. Spot the nights that sell out, the ones where the headliner needs better promo.

Built by people who ran gigs, for people who run gigs

We started TicketOtter because we got tired of watching independent venues and promoters lose 15–20% of every sub-£10 ticket to platforms designed for arena tours. A flat monthly fee makes the maths simple: every extra ticket sold is more money toward paying the band properly, not platform shareholders. It also means we don't pretend to know more than you do about your room. The tools are deliberately simple — make a page, sell a ticket, scan it at the door, look at the numbers in the morning. No sales call. No onboarding fee. No quarterly business review.

Open mic & music venue FAQs

Do you really not take a percentage?

Correct. No booking fee, no percentage, no per-ticket charge from us. Stripe takes their standard payment processing fee (around 1.5% + 20p for UK cards) because someone has to actually move the money — but TicketOtter's cut is zero.

Can I pass the Stripe fee on to the customer?

Yes. You can choose to absorb it, add it on top as a booking fee, or split it. Most venues add it on top so the headline ticket price stays clean.

How quickly do I get paid?

Money goes straight to your Stripe account, usually within 24 hours of the sale. You're not waiting until after the gig, and you're not waiting two weeks for a settlement — useful when you need to pay the support act in cash on the night.

Do I need a Stripe account?

Yes. It's free to set up and takes about 10 minutes. We don't hold your money at any point — it goes from the customer's card to your Stripe account directly.

What happens if a gig is cancelled?

You can issue full or partial refunds from the dashboard in a couple of clicks. Stripe refunds the customer; you don't pay TicketOtter anything extra to do it.

Can I have multiple ticket types for one gig?

Yes — early bird, advance, door, concession, whatever you want. Each has its own price, quantity and on-sale window. You can also crank the price up for walk-ups once advance tickets sell out.
