Create a discount code

Make a promo code for a percentage or amount off, limit where and how often it works, and see it at checkout.

A discount code (also called a coupon or promo code) is a word buyers type at checkout to get money off. You can make as many as you like, and choose exactly where and how often each one works.

Create a code

  1. Go to Discounts & gift cards in the menu. You're on the Discount codes tab.
  2. Press Add code.
  3. Type the Code buyers will enter, such as SUMMER20, or press the button beside it for a random one. Codes aren't case-sensitive.
  4. Choose the Type: a percentage off, or a fixed amount off.
  5. Enter how much.
  6. Press Create.

Control where and when it works

These settings are all optional:

  • Applies to: pick events to limit the code to them. Leave it empty for all your events.
  • Max uses: how many times the code can be used in total.
  • Expires (UK time): the code stops working after this.
  • Only apply to certain tickets: matches ticket names containing words you choose, e.g. "VIP" or "student". The form shows which tickets on sale would match.
  • Also waive booking and order fees: the buyer pays no fees on the discounted tickets.
  • Active: switch it off to pause the code without deleting it.

Your list shows each code's discount, where it works, how many times it's been used, and whether it's expired or used up. Press the pencil to edit a code or the bin to delete it. Deleting a code doesn't change orders already made with it.

How buyers use it

Buyers add their tickets, then press Discount or gift card in their basket, type the code and press Apply. The discount shows in the basket before they pay. If a code has expired, doesn't cover the tickets in their basket, or isn't valid, they're told why.

One discount code can be used per order. Buyers can still add a gift card, and a code can be used on top of a bundle deal.
