Frequently asked questions

Do I need an existing Stripe account?

No. During setup, you'll connect to Stripe via a one-click OAuth flow. If you don't have an account, Stripe will guide you through creating one for free.

Does TicketOtter take a percentage of my ticket sales?

Never. TicketOtter charges a flat monthly subscription. Stripe's standard processing fee (1.4% + 20p) applies as usual, but that goes to Stripe — not us.

What happens if I exceed my monthly ticket allowance?

Your current sale will still go through, but future sales will be paused until you either upgrade your plan or purchase additional tickets. The per-ticket rate depends on your plan — from as little as 15p each. Purchased tickets never expire.

Can I use TicketOtter for free events?

Absolutely. Free tickets (£0) skip Stripe entirely — no processing fees at all. They still count towards your monthly allowance.

Do attendees need to create an account?

No. Buyers just enter their name and email, pay, and receive their tickets. No sign-up, no app download.

Can I issue refunds?

Yes. You can refund individual tickets or full orders directly from your dashboard. The refund is processed through Stripe back to the customer's payment method.
