Frequently asked questions
Do I need an existing Stripe account?
No. During setup, you'll connect to Stripe via a one-click OAuth flow. If you don't have an account, Stripe will guide you through creating one for free.
Does TicketOtter take a percentage of my ticket sales?
Never. We charge a flat 40p + VAT per paid ticket sold, billed monthly — no percentages. Stripe's standard processing fee (1.4% + 20p) applies as usual, but that goes to Stripe, not us.
How does billing work?
It's simple: 40p + VAT for every paid ticket you sell, added up and charged to your card once a month. There are no plans, packages, or subscriptions to manage.
Can I use TicketOtter for free events?
Absolutely — a free event is completely free. We don't charge our 40p fee on free events, and £0 tickets skip Stripe's processing fees too. (Our 40p applies to tickets on paid events.)
Do attendees need to create an account?
No. Buyers just enter their name and email, pay, and receive their tickets. No sign-up, no app download.
Can I issue refunds?
Yes. You can refund individual tickets or full orders directly from your dashboard. The refund is processed through Stripe back to the customer's payment method.
